Dot Me
I don’t know about you, but I personally check the internet for available domain names every time something funky gets in my head. Recently, however, the “.me” domain name has become very popular. I remember when I first acquired the domain name I am using for this blog “kman.ME”, I searched for a lot of others .ME domains to see if they were available. Many, to my surprise were. And as usual, I told myself that I would soon recharge my pre-paid credit card (I use prepaid because I need to set myself limits sometimes) and buy me a few. … [read more]
Marriage or my Honda?
Seriously. I think I have had enough of my car. It has become so heavy on the pocket, seemingly only shirking the contents of my wallet to… thin air. I have a ‘98 Honda Civic. I like my car. It is black, has nice rims, has nice thin profile tires, and driving it is a joy. Oh and there’s also the sentimental value of the car: I’ve had many unforgettable memories and journeys in my Civic. However, for the past 4 years, in some part due to my recklessness, this car has shown me the dark side of the moon. … [read more]
A Reason To Be Slow…
Be punctual. Be prepared. Be creative. Corporate slogans pumped to pump up: pushing employees to give it all they got. Their biggest nightmare? B12. I recall it was three or four years ago when I first heard a cousin of mine mention B12. Since then, the vitamin has become a star. Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. Vitamin B12 deficiency can potentially cause severe and irreversible damage, especially to the brain and nervous system. At levels only slightly lower … [read more]
The ‘Cheapness’ of Time
Red bull seems to be doing well… They sponsor everything, don’t they? So well that time itself seems to be drinking it; for time seems to have acquired ‘juweineh’ (wings) and is now officially – and I am the official doing the officializing* here – flying. So its been said over and over. Every colleague I bump into, except on early Sunday cigarette breaks, exclaims at the fact that time is just flying. Friends and family, strangers in the street, cab drivers I’ve talked to – everyone. So why is it flying? I once read an article online about this, … [read more]
Lost in translation…
Some Arabic phrases translated word for word (or close enough) to English seem to somehow lose their meaning or sound utterly hilarious. I’ve only added 4 translated sentences below and hope that you can help me by adding your own translated Arabic-to-English sentences in the comment section. I will later compile them all into one nice list لا تحسب حسابي – don’t calculate my calculation ينصر ربك – victor your lord اختصرني – summarize me حل عني – solve about me Add your own translated sentences in the comment section, and help me grow this list and I will later … [read more]
One more candle…
February 4th was my birthday. That was almost 3 hours ago. Another year has gone by and I have another 365 days full of events and memories to archive in my head and heart. Time flies has always been the saying, but I would like to stress the fact that it never flew this quickly before. On a mini-scale, the hours go by so quickly… on a slightly larger scale, close an eye and open the other: it’s weekend again… And on a much larger scale: I’m 26… The number 26 is such a big number for me to grasp … [read more]
The bathroom is my temple.
“Wait wait… go in with your left foot”, is something most of us raised in this part of the world may have heard from our admonishing parents or grandparents as we made our way into bathrooms, washrooms, WCs, toilets, 7ammams, etc… Well left foot or right foot, or both feet at the same time (if you, say, hop into the bathroom), I am finding it more and more relaxing to be inside the bathroom. What do I mean by relaxing? Well I do not mean that using the bathroom relaxes me physically as I rid my body of wastes. I … [read more]
Tweeting…
It was 10 days ago that I got this urge to re-enter the social networking domain via twitter. I’ve been on the sidelines for far too long, I thought to myself, as I firmly decided that I would create my twitter account and get involved. It all started with our need to create a business account on twitter for a start-up that we are working on. As I watched tweeps tweet away I realized that in order to get more involved I had to create a personal account as it would be slightly unprofessional to voice my comments and opinions … [read more]
