It was 10 days ago that I got this urge to re-enter the social networking domain via twitter. I’ve been on the sidelines for far too long, I thought to myself, as I firmly decided that I would create my twitter account and get involved.
It all started with our need to create a business account on twitter for a start-up that we are working on. As I watched tweeps tweet away I realized that in order to get more involved I had to create a personal account as it would be slightly unprofessional to voice my comments and opinions through our business twitter account. And that is what happened. In 10 days, and this is not bragging -well maybe a tad – I’ve managed to get myself 400 + followers amidst which I think I’ve managed to make a few new friends.
It is a very refreshing thought to wake up in the morning and the urge to tweet “good morning twerps”. Over the past 10 days, and I must admit I think I have an quickly-prone-to-addiction personality, I’ve gotten used to tweeting my status updates (what twitter was initially intended for). However something that I am not totally enjoying about twitter is the fact that I, 90% of the time, am using my iPhone to conduct my tweeting. This means that checking links posted by fellow tweeps is an agonizing process with iPhone’s TweetDeck… and I find that I am usually missing out on a lot simply due to the fact that I opt out of clicking on a link in fear of the hours of loading it will take.
Having an iPhone, a legitimate subscription with a Service Provider with Edge is definitely something that I can no longer live without. Being connected around the clock, anywhere you are, is going to be hard to give up if a day ever comes where I am given choice between my life and my Edge-connected iPhone.
To sum things up for this post, I’m enjoying my re-involvement in the local online community and I am enthused at the fact that we have a very active online community that is rapidly growing in radius to encompass more and more people with different thoughts and backgrounds onto the scene.
